More Media Folly

So sad when the national media is worse than local.

Assumptions.

Um. No, GMA, I do not know what happens when Lady Gaga goes on stage. Since I have not bought in to the hype and commercialism, I do not know. But your tease definitely influenced my decision to keep my channel as far away from ABC as possible tomorrow, in order to avoid that segment.

Not to be outdone...the teaser was followed by a lovely Jack Black segment. Nuttin but giggling and inside jokes; unscripted and awkward. Never did figure out what that was about.

Two big strikes and no news. On a morning news program.

Not News

PLEASE give the Spring River rescue a break. Spare us all from rehashing something so unimportant and uninteresting, not to mention old.

Get out of the newsroom and cover something that matters.

Why do I have the sneaking suspicion that whatever else happens during the rest of 2011, it can and will be related to this traffic accident? Will the footage replay never cease?

"Daffodils are blooming, but last February..."

"What are you doing to celebrate Independence Day. The folks in the SUV that plunged into the river last February..."

"A new school year is starting but not for people involved in last February's SUV...."

"Here are a few who won't be dressing up for Halloween.."

Sound absurd?

Yep. But I bet they don't let it go. It is their key to non-coverage all year.

Snowpocalypse 2011

It is a prediction and the media are already busy creating scenarios. 

Yep. Instead of getting off their butts and possibly covering real news, they are talking about a situation that might develop. 

Well, folks, it's never too early to imagine things; to prepare for a non event.

Even if there is significant snowfall, do these people seriously consider themselves SO important? I listen in case they might accidently cover real news. They have earned their reliability as purveyors of some of the most insipid information ever spewed on the air. Weather is usually okay news, until the anchors take it over and make it into the main non-story.

Yet they assure me I can "turn to them" for the latest. Um. No.

Or that they will "keep me and my family safe." Yeah, just by watching this channel.

And that they are "monitoring the situation closely...blah, blah, blah." Get off your high horse. Quit talking down to me as though I am too stupid to know icy roads may be slick. And blizzards might be dangerous. And below 0 wind chills can freeze things. 

Where is the watchdog for these anti-informative media clowns?

Oh, no. They are now issuing an important reminder that some areas may be slippery, so be prepared to take precautions for these dangerous situations. Especially, when...walking.

The joy. We get these great, informative tips constantly, repeatedly, lest we forget snow can be cold and slick. Wait...wear boots? Slaps forehead...

Better go tune in so I can rely on them to save me some more. 

Sorry for all the snark. It is just SO incredibly ridiculous.
